Review: WHITE BELT by Faye McCray

How kick ass is this book's cover?!

I nodded feeling my chest tighten as I looked down at the bloody remains. A trail of thick blood led to the exit… [An excerpt from ‘White Belt’]

White Belt is part one in a short story series written by Faye McCray that follows the series’ main female protagonist, Dani, as she braves her way through ground zero of the zombie apocalypse after being left stranded by her boyfriend.

The story is written from Dani’s perspective and captures the gory scenes she experiences while also coming equipped with a sarcastic sense of humor.

There’s nothing like a bloody, severed finger smacking you square in the cheek to remind you of all you are not… [An excerpt from ‘White Belt’]

I found myself laughing at Dani’s equips despite the gritty circumstances of the moment. I also like that this story follows the notion that not everyone goes into “Chuck Norris mode” right out of the gate. Some are born great while others must find their inner Spartan while fighting their way through a Zombie Apocalypse.

I enjoyed reading White Belt and look forward to reading more about Dani as she makes her way through the trenches of ground zero of the Zombie Apocalypse.

This short story series continues with the sequel, Yellow Belt and is now available via Kindle on Amazon!
